Most of us have learned that when creating affirmations our words should be positive and present tense.
The theory here is that our brain responds to this best. Underlying this fact, is our beliefs (usually around worth) needs “correcting” so that we can create new neural pathways to support our desires. In short, we are correcting a mental process.
When it comes to magick (or “rituals”, or “spells” – whatever words feel best to you) – our affirmations or declarations are more than mental.
Let me cut to the chase: Words may carry a lot of weight… from how we say them to what we say – but it is our actions that brings things into being.
Telling yourself that you have already gotten your wish, may make you feel good – which is great, but does it help you get any closer to your goal? This is where the expression “actions speak louder than words” come into play.
If you create an intentional statement that suggests you “already have accomplished your goal”, it leaves no room to focus on the rest of your strategy.
“Strategy?” You ask…?
Yes. Strategy.
The “delusion” of you “already having it” (whatever “it” is) – is what I call “Passive Magick” – which often yields little (or no) results.
I practice “Active Magick”, which abbreviated is a two part process – and it works.
In short, you must:
- Figure out the practical steps that will support you yielding the results you desire.
- Enchant each step.
Let me share my approach with you.
So, let’s say, for example, you’d like to find a job.
- Create an intentional statement to find work (the last blog spoke to how to create the best intentional statement…if you missed it – it’s right over here.)
KEY: This where Passive Magicians stop, and the Active (and the most masterful) Magicians continue..
- Next, you can petition (or align your work with) Mercury – who can support your networking powers to get in in front of the right people.
- You can then enchant your resume so it attracts the right attention…
- Once you get your job interview, use influence magick to make yourself memorable and assure a “stand out” impression.
Do you get it?
See, it’s much easier to talk about doing something than it is to actually do something.
If what you say doesn’t line up with what you are doing, or thinking, your rituals will fall flat.
Rituals help you embody your petition.
Some of you may think, “I’ll simply pray to God. He knows what’s best.”
To you, I ask: Ever heard the saying “God helps those who help themselves? This means you must be active in your petitions and desires instead of reciting passive prayer and leaving the dirty work “up to God,” while you’re sipping lattes at your local coffee shop.
God is in EVERYTHING….In the fire yielded in the candle you light…In the gratitude you express to your deceased loved ones who speak to you daily, in music, memories or through nature….And in the inspired efforts you make towards your personal objectives.
So check-in every once in a while to make sure you are in alignment between what you are saying you desire and what you are actually doing about it.
