Last week I shared a Guide to Great Mentors. Today, I’ll share more on this topic because this is a passionate topic for me.
Modesty is NOT my middle name. I know what I know and make no bones about it. I also know there is more to know. So today, I’ll share a few more tips to guide you on your Spiritual Journey.
Great spiritual teachers help you discover that you already possess what you’re seeking.
If your intention is awakening, and you’d like to have a teacher or guide you on your journey, here are a few things to consider:
- Choose a mentor who is supportive, but not to the point that they feel like a crutch.
- Choose a teacher that honors your process, and feels good to be around.
- Choose an experienced teacher that knows when to let go, who you may also have suggestions on who to work with on the next leg of your journey. This is a lifelong process, with integration breaks in between. One teacher can’t teach everything. Several teachers are recommended.
Staying with one teacher will prolong your journey …and growth.
Question Everything:
A good mentor will encourage free thinking and questions. So if something doesn’t feel right to you, speak up!
Take this “Quick Crutch Test” to determine if you have the right teacher :
- I’ve traded one set of beliefs for another with each teacher. (True or False)
- Before making big decisions, I rely on my psychic/healer/teacher. (True or False)
- I will do what my psychic/healer/teacher says even if it doesn’t feel right. (True/False)
- I feel like my (teacher/mentor/psychic/healer) is more spiritual than I am. (True or False)
If you answered “True” to 3 or 4 of these, consider another teacher.
As mentioned last week, good spiritual teachers can provide bridges for spiritual awakening. Note: The bridge is not the destination.
The highest job of a true leader/teacher is to facilitate your re-connection to your power and Source.
Ultimately, like a mother bird, she will push you out of the nest.
I remember years ago, after working with a client I’ll call Mary, she’d often ask me out for coffee and I’d decline. Between my client load and my personal life, I was busy.
One day, I had a break in my schedule and accepted her invitation.
During our visit, she opened up and said “I feel like I can only see you when I’m paying you.”
I thought about it for a moment and said “You’re right. I mean, that is one way of looking at it.”
See, at that point in time, I didn’t have a program she was interested in, so there was no reason I would see her.
I don’t chase my clients down to work with me. They do or don’t.
Fast forward: Now – she is a Healer with her own thriving business that SHE created.
Another client from my Enlightened Business Program , asked about taking one of my Intuitive Development programs . He didn’t need it, and I told him so. (This guy was already performing miracles). He loves me for it and reminds me about this story to this day. :o)
On our journey of awakening, the last step is freeing yourself from dependency. No matter who your teacher is, or how talented they are, ultimately, you must take full responsibility for your power as an independent thinker and release all disempowering beliefs.
Above and beyond all things, trust yourself to cultivate a direct relationship with Source and never agree to fork over your power to anyone. By practicing self-trust, you’ll be able to create and strengthen an intimate relationship with Source.
Know your worth. Own your power. Take full responsibility for your life. Build a sovereign foundation of inner security that supports your to awakening to your True Self.
