According to Professor Gerard Hodgkinson of Leeds University Business School in the UK, our intuition is our brain drawing upon on past experiences and external cues to make decisions.
This supposedly happens in degrees of milliseconds at a non-conscious level.
According to the professor, all we are aware of is a general “feeling” that something is right… Or something is wrong.
Prof. Hodgkinson also suggests that our intuition tends to get triggered naturally under three distinct scenarios:
- Under severe time pressure (which explains why many people get bursts of creativity and inspiration as a deadline looms)
- Situation of information overload (which explains why many top CEOs who make hundreds of decisions a day tend to rely on their “gut” than just pouring through a ton of data)
- In the face of acute danger
Here’s the thing: I disagree.
I have worked with thousands, (yes, THOUSANDS) of people, helping them develop intuition.
I started teaching small classes, then I moved to teaching private 1 on 1 clients in an office in Matthews, NC.
