The other day, my friend (and former Mentor student) stopped by Curio, Craft & Conjure to grab a few things. While in the store, one of my favorite songs (Weird Fishes – by Lianne La Havas) was playing.
My friend cocked her head to the side and said, “wait – that’s a Radiohead song!” (I never listened to Radiohead and had no idea!)
Regardless of what version of the song you like, (I like them both), the lyrics speak to our undeniable human response to life’s injustices on many levels – but particularly our most primal desire: To be LOVED.
(To me) – the lyrics in this song invite us to explore our shadow response to our “most triggery” experiences.
In this space – we choose to react to our most visceral, dark emotions. But this deep, dark place is the threshold of our Numinosity.
We must move through our dark to get to our light.
Our Numinosity is when and where all our power combines.
When we embrace our dark, the numinous gift of one chakra accesses all the abilities and time-spaces of the other chakras. In this space, we gain peace, detachment, and neutrality.
Here’s the thing: Unless you are a Monk on a mountain, you must allow fluidity in your daily life to gain periodic states of Numinosity.
You cannot be in this world and maintain Numinosity 24-7. Those who claim to are lying to you and themselves.
You know you’re in that powerful yet fleeting Illuminated – Numinous state when you feel, sense, hear, know, see, and become a revelation while receiving it.
In this space, “now” is forever.
There are no polarities or dualities. “Self” and “other” are linked. It is a place of neutrality, where everything comes together and is also separate. With no separation, your “issues” are everyone’s “issues.” Someone else’s “problem” is your “problem.”
And Omnipotent power is your power. The Omnipotent’s depth of love is your depth of love.
Here – there is no attachment (or resonance) to that which triggers you.
Here’s the thing: Ignoring your dark emotions is not the solution. Your dark illuminates your light.
Becoming one of those folks who pretendto be so much higher in vibration than you and the rest of the world is a recipe for disaster. (You always know these folks when you are around them because they are quick to call out the “sinners/low vibe/bad folk” – while advertising and postulating their “holy high vibe-ness.”)
Here’s where I call BULL SHIT.
One of the hardest things for us to do is slow down, and find the time and honor our personal, important milestone moments. Be it a break-up or fuck-up – we feel compelled to “keep it moving” without pausing to reflect on the dark emotions that come up during these times.
It is in reflection we learn our deepest truths and create the most powerful stories.
A reflective perspective does not allow us to gloss over pivotal moments. We take these feelings and co-create something new, different, and desired.
