Regardless of your specific practice – be it sound healing, Reconnective Healing, Reiki, Shamanism (to be clear, Shamans exist in cultures around the world), Root-work, energy work, or other forms of Magick – like it or not, ignorant folks perceive you as a Witch.
I say ignorant – because they are either still drinking the Kool-Aid – or pushing it.
You can preach “love and light” until the cows come home, but anything that goes against the medical industry/big pharma, religion, or “love and light” is perceived by many to be likened to Voodoo. (*sometimes “love and light” are too!)
Personally? I embrace the term Witch and the power that comes with it.
Think about it – the origins of the word “witch” stems from fear. More specifically, fear of power.
So whether you perceive yourself as “Glenda the good witch” or “The Wicked Witch of the West,” I invite you to sit with the word “Power.”
Close your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths.
Say the word out loud a few times: POWER.
- Where do you feel it?
- What did you think of or recall?
- Did you hear any words?
If you are reading this, you are a Witch, whether you are comfortable with the word or not. Your opportunity is to figure out what kind of Witch.
There are a lot of folks who want to tell us how to do what is, in fact, natural to us. I’m not referring to teachers teaching a skill they have mastered. I’m talking about people who want to tell you that the only way to (do, be, have – you fill in the blank) – is their “one way.”
The thing to note here is that we all reach our destination in the way that works best for us – as individuals.
Anyone who says there is only “one way” is wrong – period.
If you are interested in discovering your brand of Magick, I invite you, while you are “giving,” to give yourself a gift.
