Happy New Year!

We are all familiar with the idea of making New Year’s resolutions as much as we are familiar with breaking them.

While the New Year is a perfect time to create goals you’d like to see through, we can (and should!) empower our resolutions through ritual. 

At Curio Craft & Conjure, we always tell our clients to “clear before you call” because that is the science of Magick. Before you go about making resolutions to invite opportunities into your life, be sure to clear the energy that is (or can potentially) block them.

My personal ritual for creating a clear path into the New Year is the following:

  1. Before ANY clearing is done, I do a brief tarot card reading asking the following questions:
  • What can I expect in the New Year?
  • What can stand in the way of my goals?
  • What other challenges can I expect?
  • What pleasant surprises can I expect?
  • What else?
  1. Clear your space. Sweep your entire house with a *new* broom while saying a prayer of release. (Yes—throw the old broom OUT.) *OR—do this on New Years Eve with your old broom. The next time you sweep your home in 2024, be sure your broom is brand new.
  2. If you can name at least 12 good experiences from 2023, smudge your space with either Eucalyptus or Rosemary. Only use Sage if your year was just horrible.
  3. Next, clear your body by first taking a shower and then taking a Purifying Spiritual Bath that relieves you of any energies from 2023 you are ready to release. Tip: Tell the bath water what you are releasing, so as the tub drains, it carries this energy with it.
  4. Call in your desires. Light a carved and dressed candle created for your overarching goal of the New Year. (For example, if you want to pay off your car, your home, your credit card debt, & earn more money, your overarching goal is financial abundance.)
