Last week my “Unsubscribe from Cancer” newsletter was met with an overwhelming response. (Thanks to those of you who shared their stories with me).
Equally overwhelming was the outcome of my newsletter: My first love, good friend, and father to my daughter transitioned Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:20 a.m. This was my first time having the honor of holding space while someone moved from human to spirit form.
Sadly, he left behind many friends and family members who loved him, including a 12 year old son. This young man also experienced the death of his mother when he was only 6. Both of his parents have died from cancer related therapies.
Notice I did not say they died from cancer. It was the chemotherapy that killed them both, and to be honest, our medical system pisses me off.
However, every cloud has a silver lining: My daughter and I came home with her little brother – his 12 year old son.
(You may remember that my house was on the market for 9 months last year. Now we know why it didn’t sell. God is great, & chemo sucks).
It has been said it takes a village to raise a child, and I am asking for your help.
My new “Sun” (as I like to call him) is still in shock. This was evident when he said to me “I feel like I’m on vacation”. Some studies indicate that death of a parent often doesn’t register with a child for 2 months.
I’m getting a head start on his healing process with grief therapy sessions. I was referred to an amazing therapist who is about $160 a session.
I’m usually not one who asks for help, but this situation has exposed my vulnerable side. I’m asking my readers to donate what they’re comfortable with to help me raise $3000 for his therapy sessions. (As I write this about $1000 has already been donated through facebook).
I opened a GoFundMe account https://www.gofundme.com/x7wrbbtu where you can donate and also see how close we are to the goal.
And a huge, heartfelt thank you to those of you who have already donated. My family is very grateful for your support.
You are loved~
