Ahhhhhh – Mercury Retrograde!
More than any other planet, Astrologers are famous for reminding us common folk of the warnings that come with Mercury in retrograde: Disrupting travel, technology glitches, canceled appointments, re-reading fine print, better yet – not signing any contracts – and God forbid you start anything “new.”
And it makes sense. Our culture is (in America, that is) is all about striving for “more,” pushing towards a forward momentum, living to “work” as opposed to working to live.
We have a history of defining “success” in terms of busyness and material things.
The retrograde is a great time to rethink, review, reschedule and often, change your mind.
What we rarely hear about is that Mercury retrogrades invite us to slow down, spend quality time with family, friends, or (how about this revelation) – yourself.
So, take a moment now – yes – right now – and think about the “thing” you have been avoiding. Then ask yourself:
- How can you redefine productivity and become less focused on linear advancement?
- How can you make actual room for slowing down in your life – not just during a Mercury Retrograde?
- What do you want to experience, but you are just waiting for “a good time” to do it?
Life gives us many opportunities to take a pregnant pause and ask ourselves, “Am I happy with my life?”
If the answer is “no,” – Mercury is inviting you to a party. Accept this invitation and make the most of this time.
Where are you unhappy in your life?
What are you going to do about it?
Mercury’s retrograde ends October 18th. Why not give yourself a Meditation Challenge?
Between today and October 18th, wake up 15 minutes early and just sit in stillness.
You are only competing with yourself. If you “win,” you will have started a new “Self-Full” habit!
