Low Magick is High Magick

The study of Magick is the study of the Self. Increased personal power is the reward you gain when you take the time out to “color outside of the lines”.

I have been really talking up Intuition Witch Intensive because I am SO excited about teaching the NEW stuff.

The “new stuff” centers around Psychic Self Defense (including self-care, protection, and energetic clearing).

“Clearing” sounds pretty nebulous until you truly understand your natural Magickal Style. We all use each of the 4 primary elements (Earth, Wind, Water & Fire), and I believe that we are naturally predisposed to attracting things with 1 or 2 elements and healing or clearing with 1 or 2 different elements.

I am all about American Folk Magick – also known as Hoodoo. I love it because it combines the earth-based traditions from all the cultures that came to this country and who were already here.

These traditions offer as many similarities as they do differences – so when you take the time to understand your personal brand of Magick, you give yourself permission to color outside the lines of groupthink.

Groupthink includes “Ceremonial Magick” (often called High Magick), which embraces the idea of “closed practices”, initiations, and limitations – based on someone else’s rules. Ceremonial Magick was created and practiced largely by educated (white) men and is intended to appear selective and elitist. While some find this alluring, I find it to be just another version of politics and religion – with someone else telling you “What to do” and “How to think”.

While it’s not my cup of tea, the reality is most people want to be lead.

Folk Magick is often the most disrespected of the Magickal Arts. Often called low magick (with negative connotations intended), by “initiated groupies”, Folk Magick is a reflection of history. Your history, (and mine) your ancestry (and mine!), where you lived, what you’ve read, who you’ve met, and what you’ve experienced.

Folk Magick is the Magick of the people. My people, your people, everyone’s people. It unites us, having no rules except Universal Laws. With that said, I declare Low Magick is High Magick because there is strength in unity.

It used to be a tradition for Folk Magick to be learned from older female relatives. These days, between Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tic Toc, and the internet, Folk Magick breaks the boundaries of lineage, space, and language.
