Magick in a Bottle

Historically, (Yes! There is history here!) “Witch Bottles” were buried under the threshold of your home or hidden up a chimney to keep evil away from you and your loved ones.

A typical Witch Bottle contains sharp, jagged items like bent pins, shards of glass, nails, or broken razor blades, plus hair, and the urine of the person who wishes to be protected. If you think about this energetically, pointy objects (from knives to plants) offer protection by breaking up dense energy.

Archaeologists have discovered ancient, still sealed Witch bottles in England. Once opened and tested, all of them still contained liquids which tested positive for the presence of urine – indicating the power of our DNA. (Even animals “mark their territory” with urine.)

Today, Witch Bottles are made for various reasons, including protection, luck, psychic vision, attraction, blessing, prosperity, court cases, stop gossip, “fix” your boss, and more.

Simply put, they are designed in such a way that you can bring about the changes you desire.

When creating a bottle for success, luck, healing, wealth, or luck, create a “Petition Paper” by writing what you desire first and crossing it with your name nine times on paper with torn edges in the shape of a square.

After adding your ingredients, finish off your bottle by burning a chime candle of the appropriate color, (Candle Conjure Guides are available at Curio, Craft & Conjure) -dressed with the appropriate oil, and allow the wax to drip along the mouth of the bottle to seal it.

If your bottle holds an ongoing desire, add vinegar (for harm); Florida Water (for blessing); or Hoyts Cologne (for luck) – and shake it daily while you feel/ imagine/say/pray your outcome. (*Honey Jars are also a type of “Witch Bottle” but they are not shaken).

If the purpose of your bottle is to rid yourself of a person or condition, dispose of the bottle in the earth, water, or fire as appropriate.

If you intend to keep someone close without them knowing, bury the bottle in your backyard.

If your desire is for love, money, or luck, and you have an altar, keep the bottle on the altar where it will continue to work for you.

If you are curious about creating a Witch Bottle (or Honey Jar!), visit us at Curio, Craft & Conjure so we can help you make the most powerful Magick possible!
