Numerology in Tarot

If you are a Tarot enthusiast (like I am), you have probably noticed that Tarot is a lifelong study, best taken in “chunks.”

Those chunks include Astrology, Symbology, Elementology (Yes – I made up that word, but I also made up the word “Tarologist” years ago, and now it’s a “thing”) – Kabbalah, Chakra/Color-ology, Numerology…and the list keeps growing.

The Numerological portion can provide a wealth of information to even the “greenest” of Tarot Readers. And whether you are into Tarot or not, numbers are everywhere, and there is meaning and messages in numbers.

In my best-selling book, The Intuitive Tarot Workbook, I offer a “shortcut” to understanding numbers and how they relate to Tarot (and a host of other excellent Tarot tips!).

Today, I will share a beautifully simple Tarot-Tip that supports insight and accuracy in your readings using Numerology. I use this when doing readings via the Celtic Cross, but you can use it with any spread.

What to Do

After laying down all the cards (and reading them as you usually would), take a moment to add up ONLY the numerical cards. Tip: This does not include the Major Arcana – JUST the Minor Arcana, excluding the Court cards – (because they are not numbered).

After adding the numbered cards – reduce them down to a single number. Example: Let’s say you added all your numbers and got 17. Reduce that down to 8 (1 + 7=8)

This is where your knowledge of Numerology comes in. Lucky for you, I am providing “crib notes,” – but keep in mind, the actual study of Numerology offers deeper insight.

Reduced Numbers 1 through 10

1 (or Aces): New beginnings

2: Choices/Partnerships

3: Creation

4: Foundations

5: Change

6: Healing

7: Wisdom

8: Success

9: Completion

10: (Reduced to 1; 1+0 = 1) New Beginnings

From Here – take the number and determine how it fits with the overall message of the reading, and just like that – BAM! – deeper insight!
