Have you ever heard of The Omen Days?
Also called the 12 Days of Christmas, this tradition calls for being mindful over the 12 days after Christmas so you can see what your year ahead will be like.
Today, December 26th through January 6th, is considered a liminal time. “Liminal times” include the time between one stage and another, and I think of them as the larvae stage before a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. Births, deaths, marriages, divorces, moving, new jobs, and job loss are just some examples of liminal times.
Believe it or not, these are potent times, great for any spiritual interaction, divination, healing, and spell casting.
Each day (starting today and for the next 11 days) corresponds to a month of the same number. Today, the first Omen Day, you can receive clues about how January will play out for you. Tomorrow, the 2nd Omen Day offers insight for February and so on.
In this tradition, you want to pay special attention and “notice what you notice.” Pay attention to your environment or events of the day. You may want to spend time outdoors so that animal omens will be more obvious. Also, pay attention to repetition. For example, significant words or themes in your interactions may serve as an omen.
