The Empty Bowl

One of my favorite proverbs is “Only an empty bowl can be filled”.

When doing readings for clients, I repeat it to the married people who come complaining about their lovers; when sick people want to be healthy; and when broke folks want more money.

This proverb points to the quantum phenomenon of “nature abhorring a vacuum”. If you want something, get rid of something!

True Story: Years ago, I decided to sell my house and “start over”. The start-over referred to 3 things:

  • Debt elimination
  • A new Car
  • Being in a culturally diverse neighborhood with people that reflected who I am.

My daughter had moved out, so my 5 bedroom house had me, 2 dogs and a bunch of stuff. I started to clear my house of the stuff to get it ready to put on the market. In the past my homes sold in days, so I was confident this would be the case again.

I cleared my closets, the attic, and the garage of eight years’ worth of stuff, giving away things to family, friends and Goodwill.

Around this same time, I was also getting ready to host a huge event – so, to put it mildly, I felt like the last slave in Georgia between cleaning, (and having to suddenly leave my house when people came to view it), combined with the responsibility of event preparation.

My house ended up being on the market for 8 friggen months, but I was so focused on (not) selling the house, something else happened that I didn’t notice at first.

The tickets to my event were selling like hotcakes and I made $50,000 in one month – without even realizing it.

The Moral

I never sold my house. But I did I end up paying off my debt, getting a new car and Curio, Craft & Conjure, where I spend most of my time, is in a neighborhood that I LOVE, and is filled with my peeps!

The first and most important step in this story was clearing out my house.

Energy is everything. If you want “new” you gotta get rid of the “old”.

  • You want new clothes? Clear out your closets.
  • You want a new love? Get closure with the old one.
  • You want more money? Pay towards your bills when you have money.
  • You want better health? Get rid of the crap in your refrigerator and pantry.

Try it!!!!

Lots of amazing events coming up at Curio, Craft & Conjure.
