In the busy world, we live in, taking care of ourselves first has been seen as selfish – especially if you are a woman. As women, we are supposed to juggle jobs, kids, spouses, manage meals and clean the house – while “good men” make the majority of the money.
Truth be told, I am a much better husband than a wife (meaning I can make money better than I can cook and clean!)
This is why I love being a Witch.
In many ways, Witchcraft is about power – but not power over others. Witchcraft helps build personal empowerment. This is because it places a huge amount of emphasis on identity and self-discovery while allowing for the creative flow of imagination. Both Witchcraft and self-care put an emphasis on healing the self so that we can live a happier life.
A major aspect of being a Witch involves working with the inner parts of ourselves and our intuition. Our Magick is an extension of our being, which is why it intersects perfectly with self-care. By tapping into the healing nature of Witchcraft through self-reflection, creativity, and mindfulness, we can actively engage in the Magickal maintenance of the self.
Witchcraft teaches us to tap into our own inner world and experience it through the natural order of life. It is a deep, spiritual practice, not a temporary spur-of-the-moment fix for life’s problems.
Ritual is designed to help us evolve, come to our personal power, and be of service to the world around us. In order for us to be of service, we must work on ourselves first.
We’re conduits for the power of Magick. If our energetic anatomy is clogged, our Magick cannot flow freely. Being a practitioner of Witchcraft requires awareness of ourselves and our actions so that we can better care for ourselves.
4 Steps to Prioritizing You
Witchcraft is a spiritual tool that can be used to tend to our minds, bodies, and spirits and forge a deeper connection to our environment, communities, and personal successes.
What are your self-care goals? Identifying these will better assist you in setting intentions in manifesting magick.
One of the simplest ways to prioritize yourself is to sit down, reflect and document what makes you happy.
- Make a list of 10 things that make you happy.
- Next, write down why they make you happy.
- Next, document what you need more of (from your list) to create more joy.
- Finally, commit to yourself that you will clear your plate, wake up earlier or cut back in the areas not bringing you joy, creating more time for YOU.
