With my intuition as my guide, I make choices and decisions that keep me moving forward.
One little trick I like to use is to use my body as a pendulum. This only works for “Yes or No” questions (the very kind of questions I teach my students to avoid using in a reading), but it comes in handy when testing if something is good for you or not.
A perfect example I’ll share with you is the medicine I take. It is known to make your bones weak (wtf kinda medicine does THAT??) so, every day I ask my body if I should take it. Sometimes I get “yes”, sometimes “no”. Note: If you take medicine, before you decide to do something like this, check with your doctor. Some medications have adverse effects if not taken regularly. Check with your doctor before deciding to skip a dose.
How To Use Your Body as a Pendulum:
Preliminary Tips:
1. For this test to be effective, you must be well hydrated.
2. Establish your personal “yes” and “no”. This is how:
- Stand with your legs shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent.
- Say out loud “My name is…” (Your name here). Which way did your body move, forward or backward? This is your “Yes”
- Next, standing in the same position, say aloud “My name is Micky Mouse” (or anyone’s name that is not yours). Which way did your body move this time? It should be the opposite. This reflects your body’s “No”.
3. Next, ask your question in the form of a statement. Example: It is in my highest and best good to wear this jewelry, drink this bottle of tequila, eat this apple etc.
Note: Notice this statement is in the positive, present tense.
Tip: If you are asking about a “thing” hold it in your left hand. If you ask about anything else, think about it.
While this is a great technique, I like to ask empowered questions. “Yes” or “No” questions, get “Yes” or “No” answers.
