I love this image.
When I was a kid, I used to think that these 3 monkeys “Hear No Evil. See No Evil. Speak No Evil” meant to turn a blind eye if you witnessed “fowl play” at work (or a blind ear) – while being tight lipped. Almost like a gangster code or something.
Then, one day (not too long ago – truth be told), I saw them in a whole new light.
These monkey are a gentle reminder that what we focus on grows.
Our goal, then, is to focus on the “good stuff” – not the “bad stuff” – with our words, what we choose to hear, share and how we choose to see things.
I remember years ago, when I was in sales and I used to listen to Brian Tracey tapes (yes – I said it was years ago!).
In one of the tapes he said “If something bad happens – instantly say “That’s Good!” and then find the good in it.”
Think about it.
Every time we bitch about anything to anyone – we are not only sharing that energy, but others are holding that same “vision”/illness/debt/problem for us and in themselves.
I don’t know about you but when I think of that – I don’t even want to hear about your problems!
That is a powerful life lesson – one that I was reminded of recently while looking at my monkeys.
These monkeys serve as a wonderful reminder of how much power we really have.
