Magick & The 5 Phases of the Moon:

To me, the moon has five distinct phases:

1. New Moon: Sometimes described as The Crescent Moon, this is when a sliver of moonlight is visible. This phase marks a starting point. Aligning with this phase can support new beginnings, ideas, relationships – anything “new.”
2. Waxing Moon: This is when the moon starts to expand. This phase helps you amplify what you already have – taking them to the next level. It also supports communication and promotes healing.
3. Full Moon: This is the most popular phase – because it lights up the sky. This is when you can perfect plans, manifest, and bring fulfillment in areas of your life.
4. Waning: During this phase, the moon appears to be getting smaller. This is when you release bad habits, bad relationships, bad thought processes, or anything that no longer serves you.
5. *Dark Moon: The moon is not visible during this phase. People often confuse this phase with the New Moon – but this phase has its own energy and is great for Shadow Magick (banishing, hexing, protection, healing, and psychic work). *Most “Lunologists” don’t include The Dark Moon as a phase – but I have found it to hold its own undeniably unique power.

Out of all these phases, two of them are highly effective in supporting wishes and petitions if used correctly.
