In my last newsletter, I talked about how I used to think I could do readings for a living to sustain myself and my family.
What followed was a time I was getting really disenchanted about my purpose. I went from making about $100k a year working for “the man” to $37k living my purpose.
Around this time, I was thinking “THIS is Bullshit”
Also, around this time, I found my business coach. She helped me tremendously. And I will also share this with you: Not all her suggestions were “golden”.
I recall working with my coach and the group I was in – where we were working through an exercise of creating “packages” from our services. The logic here was that you could create more effective results with a package of three, (for example), than a single service.
But my business was different.
I shared my insight with my coach: “No one needs a package of tarot readings”.
Her response? “Well, Gina, that is your “mind-set.”
Here’s the thing… I disagreed then, and I disagree now.
I have taught over 20,000 people around the world how to read tarot and have done at least as many readings.
When I have clients that want readings once a week on the same topic, they are the clients I can do without, ‘cuz they just want to hear what they want to hear.
Having had this experience numerous times, this is what I know: These folks waste your time trying to get you to contradict yourself.
These are also the types of clients that, if you need to pay your bills, you may sacrifice integrity for.
My advice? DON’T DO LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU.
I remember once years ago, giving a horror-filled reading to a lady. She asking about her son. Unfortunately, her reading featured bad news on top of more bad news.
After the reading, she quickly found someone who told her everything she wanted to hear. Unfortunately for her, my reading was the one that came to pass.
As Healers and Intuitives, our calling has nothing to do with getting rich. Most coaches, like mine (who I adore, by the way) want you to feel that you can (and will) get rich if you follow myths that, for some of us – need not follow.
- Myth: Move from transactions to Packages.
- Truth: Great for Healers, NOT Intuitives or Creatives.
- Myth: People need to “know like & trust” you before they buy from you.
- Truth: People buy from us first, then decide if they even want to know, like & trust us.
- Myth: Identify who your ideal client is first.
- Truth: Identify who you are, first. Too many people in the “spiritual” space want to be everything to everyone. Tip: You can’t.
